DISTANCE EDUCATION SURVEY FOR: FSM, PALAU, MARSHALLS AND CNMI

The purpose of this survey is to provide a general overview of previous and existing distance education activities in the region.
This information will assist project proposal reviewers and policy makers in decision making and priority setting processes
related to the overall program goals.

Please do your best in responding to each of the questions in narrative form as much as possible.

1. Ongoing Distance Education Activities:

a. List and describe each program or activity.

b. Provide details on whether they are for training, in-service, certificate programs, degree-related, community service, others.

c. Provide the number of participants, duration of the program, and rate of completion if available for each program or activity. 

 d. Describe whether each of the listed programs is continuing or one-time only. 

e. Provide information on whether remote islands are participants of each of these programs.

f. Provide approximate cost of each of the programs or activities and funding source if appropriate.

2. Previous Distance Education Activities:

b. Provide the number of participants and success rate for the program. 

c. Explain why activities were discontinued. 

d. Provide information on whether remote islands participated in the activities.

e. Provide approximate cost of the activities and funding source if appropriate.

f. Is distance education perceived as not very critical, moderately critical, or very critical, in delivering quality education to clients in your community especially the remote islands? Why? 

g. What do you see as the most important consideration for distance education to succeed in the region? 

h. What do you see as the major challenges for distance education in your community? Why? 

i. Will you consider joining resources with other entities or organizations in the development of distance education programs? How? 

j. Do you feel that key stakeholders and leaders in your community are ready to support distance education at this time? Explain how they may commit funds, personnel, facilities and equipment to support distance education. 

k. Do you have personnel to plan, develop, implement and evaluate distance education programs in your organization at this point in time? Explain in detail, please. 

l. Provide any other pertinent information as you see fit.
