Forming an Alliance for Progress in the Western Pacific
The purpose of this survey is to provide a general overview of
previous and existing distance education activities in the region.
This information will assist project proposal reviewers and policy
makers in decision making and priority setting processes related
to the overall program goals.
Please do your best in responding to each of the questions in narrative
form as much as possible.

- Ongoing Distance Education Activities:
- List and describe each program or activity.
- Provide details on whether they are for training, in-service,
certificate programs, degree-related, community service, others.
Provide the number of participants, duration of the program, and
rate of completion if available for each program or activity.
- Describe whether each of the listed programs is continuing or
one-time only.
- Provide information on whether remote islands are participants
of each of these programs.
- Provide approximate cost of each of the programs or activities
and funding source if appropriate.

- Is distance education perceived as not very critical, moderately
critical, or very critical, in delivering quality education to
clients in your community especially the remote islands? Why?
- What do you see as the most important consideration for distance
education to succeed in the region?
- What do you see as the major challenges for distance education
in your community? Why?
- Will you consider joining resources with other entities or organizations
in the development of distance education programs? How?
- Do you feel that key stakeholders and leaders in your community
are ready to support distance education at this time? Explain
how they may commit funds, personnel, facilities and equipment
to support distance education.
